Hotel update

The official convention hotel, the Hilton Austin, has sold all its double-bedded rooms. Read on for specific details which may apply to your situation:

If you need rooms for four people: Contact our overflow service, A Room With A View, which can be reached at 1 (800) 780-4343 Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central time. This is a FREE SERVICE to all ACP/CMA attendees. We have used this service many times in the past, and Chris McDonald and his staff do a fantastic job of making sure everyone gets a hotel that meets their needs at the lowest possible cost. There are other hotels very close to the convention center and Hilton, so you won’t be across town!

If you need rooms for 1, 2 or 3 people: You can contact the Hilton Austin using the same procedure already published. The hotel has a few dozen rooms available, but the staff cannot guarantee whether they are king or double-bedded. You could end up with a king and roll-away. You may fax using the reservations form in the registration book or call 1 (800) 236-1592 and the code “ACP.” When the Hilton is no longer available, we will announce that.

If you have rooms for four people and your needs have changed: Please contact Brigid Borcik at the Hilton Austin at (512) 682-2816 to let her know. She can move things around at the hotel and possibly accommodate both you and another group. That would be preferable, since we want to accommodate as many people at the Hilton as possible.

REMEMBER: Hilton reservations canceled at this point forfeit the one night’s deposit.

If you have requested rooms at the Hilton and have not received a confirmation: Stay tuned. Any rooms that cannot be accommodated at the Hilton will be forwarded to A Room With A View in the order they were received, so you will get assistance very quickly. If you don’t hear by the end of the week, contact Brigid Borcik at the Hilton.

While the hotel being sold out might be an inconvenience for some, it represents a bit of good news for ACP and CMA and all our members because we will most likely avoid any additional expenses by meeting our room occupancy obligation. It also indicates we will have strong attendance at the convention!
